Choosing pepper colors

I’m planning my garden and realized peppers come in so many colors! Red, yellow, purple, even chocolate. Do you usually pick a color for looks, flavor, or heat? I’d love to know if choosing by color makes sense.

I’m guilty of choosing peppers purely because they look cool in the yard. Purple and chocolate varieties make the garden look like a candy store. I’ve noticed the darker ones sometimes stay firmer longer on the plant. Are you designing your garden for looks or for cooking?

I pick based on what I want in my salsa batches. Reds usually give me that classic pepper sweetness, while yellows and oranges brighten things up. Purple peppers look amazing in the garden but mellow out when cooked. What kind of dishes are you hoping to use them in?
