Choosing the right pepper

Not sure why but I signed up for a local chili cook-off and I’ve been experimenting with different peppers at home. Now I’m torn between using habaneros or scorpion peppers! Love them both. Habaneros give that fruity kick I love, but scorpions pack a serious punch. For those of you who cooked with them which pepper do you think works best for a bold but still enjoyable chili?

I once tested scorpion peppers at home, and while the heat was crazy, my friends said it was too much for a full bowl. I switched to habaneros instead because the fruity taste worked better with the beans and spices, and it still had a strong kick.

So I guess if you want bold but still easy to enjoy, habaneros are a safer choice, though adding just a little scorpion can give you the best mix!
