I brought cowboy candy to a holiday potluck, and people couldn’t believe jalapeños could taste that good. Sweet, spicy, and gone in minutes. Anyone else try it out for the holidays?
Thought I'd share a simplified version of the recipe. We still have the New Year to try it out!

Cowboy Candy (Candied Jalapeños)
Ingredients:
- 1 lb fresh jalapeños, sliced into rings
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup apple cider vinegar
- ½ tsp turmeric
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp cayenne (optional, for extra heat)
Steps:
- In a saucepan, combine sugar, vinegar, and spices. Bring to a gentle boil.
- Add jalapeño slices and simmer for about 4–5 minutes until they start to soften.
- Use a slotted spoon to transfer jalapeños into sterilized jars.
- Pour hot syrup over the peppers, leaving a little headspace.
- Seal jars and refrigerate (or water‑bath can for longer storage).
