I brought cowboy candy to a holiday potluck, and people couldn’t believe jalapeños could taste that good. Sweet, spicy, and gone in minutes. Anyone else try it out for the holidays?

Thought I'd share a simplified version of the recipe. We still have the New Year to try it out!

Cowboy Candy (Candied Jalapeños)

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb fresh jalapeños, sliced into rings
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp cayenne (optional, for extra heat)

Steps:
  • In a saucepan, combine sugar, vinegar, and spices. Bring to a gentle boil.
  • Add jalapeño slices and simmer for about 4–5 minutes until they start to soften.
  • Use a slotted spoon to transfer jalapeños into sterilized jars.
  • Pour hot syrup over the peppers, leaving a little headspace.
  • Seal jars and refrigerate (or water‑bath can for longer storage).
Tip: They’re amazing on cream cheese with crackers, burgers, or even holiday ham!
