History of growing peppers

I've grown peppers for over a decade, maybe two. My preference is to grow pubescens varieties like 'Pepper for Hell', 'Manzano', etc. My main peppers besides the pubescens are 'Hawaiian', 'Sport', 'Chilhuacle Negro', Chilhuacle Amarillo', 'Thai', and 'Sugar Rush Stripey'. The Chilhuacle are great as a base for making chili. The 'Sport' and 'Sugar Rush Stripey' are great for pickling as they just have the proper spice level and will maintain a crunch. The trick is keeping the pubescens alive through the winter, as full production really doesn't start until year #3 - not practical in colder climates.
