Hello,

I just joined the forum and I already have some questions. I bought what was labeled as a Fresno chili plant this spring and planted it. I did jalapeños last year, and the “fresnos” look almost the same.

Can anyone tell if they’re Fresnos or jalapeños? They started fruiting I would say a month or so ago. Thanks for any info!

Thanks for the feedback! I was concerned since they really haven’t turned even a touch towards red. The plant really started to fruit in earnest at the end of May, so many of those have been on the plant for 4-6 weeks

usually jalapenos are dark green with blunt, rounded ends, and fresnos are bright green with more conical, pointed tips

I think I was being very impatient, the Fresnos have all started to turn red very quickly. Ate one yesterday and definitely that perfect Fresno pepper flavor with great heat! I guess patience is key when it comes to hot peppers
