Jalapenos in soda cans?

Got a funny story. So I started my jalapenos in soda cans because that’s all I had. They sprouted fine, but now I’m thinking about root space, drainage, and whether this counts as hydroponics or just soil in a can?? Should I transplant soon, or can they grow a while like this?

I did the same with soda cans last year! They sprouted fine but stalled out after a month. Once I moved them into bigger pots, they took off. My takeaway is cans are great for starting, not for finishing.
