Root Knot Nematodes

I discovered that my largest raised bed (10x13x3) has a massive infestation of root knot nematodes. I'm going to have to pull many peppers that are up to three years old to deal with this nightmare.

I've been researching how to deal with this issue, but I would really appreciate how others deal with this issue. I've learned that solarization is the worst thing that can be done, as it kills off everything and can fundamentally destroy the soil. There are chemical treatments, but those also can kill the beneficial nematodes. I am now looking at chitosan with salicylic acid, plus increasing mulch levels with the addition of biochar. In the spring, I'll introduce beneficial nematodes once the ground warms back up.

Any thoughts? I really feel like I'm trying to herd the ghosts of cats (can't see them, and can't predict what they'll respond to).

That’s a tough situation to be in, and I’ve been there. had to pull all my tomato plants one year because of root knot. Your plan using chitosan, biochar, and good nematodes sounds smart. If you haven’t tried it yet, planting marigolds before spring can help lower the bad nematodes. Let us know how it works out.

@MutantRyeff you need to look into Mustard varieties (like Caliente or Nemat mustard). These act as biofumigants
