Unexpected standouts from My 2024 chili season

I wasn't really planning on being impressed last year, but a couple of varieties really threw me. Aji Fantasy (Capsicum baccatum) turned out way more productive than I expected. It's sweet, citrusy, and it just kept going. I almost didn't bother growing it again, but I'm glad I did. Then there was Sugar Rush Peach. I heard others talk about it and I figured it was all hype… but nope. Fruity flavor, decent heat, and just beautiful pods. Ended up being a real garden favorite.

@oh carolina you know, Aji Fantasy is such an underrated gem! Mine was ridiculously productive too, and that unique citrusy sweetness is awesome in sauces.
it's a perfect example of why it's worth giving a pepper a second chance, or trying a variety you're unsure about. Sometimes the unexpected ones become the best!

Sound like you made the right call and had a pretty good season. If you liked these I'd recommend giving Aji Lemon Drop or Sugar Rush Stripey a try. They are similar in many ways, but have their own twists.

Aji Fantasy really surprises a lot of people and sugar rush peach is one of those varieties that looks as good as it tastes; the flavor and color combo makes it stand out in the garden. Definitely two that are worth repeating every season
